In November 2014 the property market has officially adopted the international standard of office premises measurement released by the International Property Measurement Standards Coalition (IPMSC). This first of its kind document offers a general scheme for measuring office buildings throughout the world and, by the way, is available in Russian. Recently RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in the field of real estate) has unified its Code of real estate measurement with IPMS. The updated code contains the information required by certified surveyors for measuring customers’ office buildings in accordance with the international standard. Update was published in the form of professional declaration and ensures implementation of identical measurements on all real estate markets. We spoke with one of the RICS members Sergey Chemerikin about how this standard can affect the real estate assessment, as well as about its prospects in the Russian market.
